Assistant to the Mayor

Responsibilities of this position include providing administrative support by ensuring efficient and polite office services, maintenance and control of personnel records, health insurance transactions and report processing, and general human resources administration. This position is also responsible for maintaining records of appropriations and expenditures for the Executive Office.
Candidates must possess knowledge of and experience with worker’s compensation, purchasing, health insurance, union policy and contracts and, at minimum, a familiarity with general governmental operation, compliance and reporting. Specifically, candidates should have superior communication skills, both spoken and written; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel programs; the ability to build and maintain databases and filing systems; and moderate bookkeeping skills.
Associate’s degree required or, bachelor’s degree preferred.
