Workers will be assigned to various divisions within the Service department. Applications may be obtained at the Service department Located at 55 Mary Ann Street, Portsmouth, Ohio. The City of Portsmouth will be accepting applications for Lifeguards for the 2020 Summer season at the McKinley Pool. Applications can be obtained at the City Garage, 55 Mary Ann St. Portsmouth, Ohio, or on the city’s website at: www.portsmouthoh.org under applications. Applications will be accepted thru May 29th, 2020.

The Portsmouth City Council will be meeting on Monday May 11, 2020 at Shawnee State University Center Lobby at 6:00 p.m. Thank you to Dr. Bauer for allowing City Council to use this facility so that there will be plenty of room to spread out to the required social distance. Also, the meeting will be closed to the public and the press due to the Governor’s orders of only 10 for a gathering. We will still be streaming the meeting live on facebook. City Clerk Ratliff is requesting that questions be emailed to her regarding items on the agenda and items not on the agenda at [email protected] There will be a deadline of noon on Monday May 1th to submit questions for Council.

March 23, 2020 Per City Manager Sutherland, the following employees are considered essential employees and will follow the below schedule: All First Responders and Dispatchers – following regular schedule Water Department - following regular schedule Sewer Department - following regular schedule Sanitation Department - following regular schedule Engineering/Building Department - Will be closed to the public, but will accept telephone calls and plans can be deposited in a box located outside of the Department. There will be a hold on permits and inspections unless it is an emergency.
