2020 Leaf Pickup Schedule The Portsmouth Public Service Department will be starting its annual leaf pickup on October 26, 2020. The entire City will be covered twice in six weeks according to the following schedule. Citizens are asked to rake their leaves in the street next to the curb at least one day ahead of the schedule. Please rake leaves separately from brush or other objects and if you have bagged leaves place them where you place your garbage, but separate from the garbage. Residents are asked to move their cars on the day of their scheduled leaf pickup. Especially, if your street is narrow (EXAMPLE: 1100 Block & 1200 Block 22nd Street). Leaves that are under cars WILL NOT be picked up until the next scheduled day. If you are using a landscaping company to collect your leaves or hire someone to rake them, then they are responsible for removing the leaves from your property. Thank you for your cooperation in this endeavor. The dates are tentative, because we may be delayed by the weather, quantity of leaves, or equipment failure.

* Creation of a DORA in Downtown Portsmouth, mostly along Second Street and Chillicothe Street. * The DORA would ease or make more accessible outdoor dining in front of liquor permit holding establishment. It would allow such establishments to service in front of their establishments during certain hours. Creation of the DORA and subsequent amendment of the City's Outdoor Dining Policy would relieve these establishments of current requirements for fencing around a dining area. Signage, sanitation and safety requirements would be established by a permit. * The Portsmouth DORA would provide the ability during permitted Special Events for individuals to walk around the DORA boundaries with an alcoholic beverage purchased from a liquor permit holding establishment. This authority-subject to issuance of individual permits would be limited, initially, to the events listed (see attached application). Signage, sanitation and safety requirements would be established by permit for each Special Event.
