Terms and Conditions
The City of Portsmouth and the community as a whole recognize the benefits of operating and maintaining clean and visually appealing parks. The Adopt-A-Park program is designed to facilitate community group involvement by keeping the City parks clean and litter-free. Groups have the option of providing park clean-up crews, assisting with park landscaping, and other work activities designed to improve the City’s parks.
By signature, the volunteer group acknowledges the potentially hazardous nature of the work to be performed and agrees to the following terms and conditions:
a. All group members shall sign a release, waiver and indemnification agreement before they are permitted to participate in a park cleanup activity.
b. If an organization subcontracts work associated with the project, they shall obtain written identification from the subcontractor for work performed on City property and present an original signed copy to the Service Director.
c. Any group containing personnel less than 18 years of age must have adequate adult supervision. A minimum ratio of one adult for each four persons under 18 years of age is required. Children under 10 years of age are to be supervised by the parent or legal guardian of the child.
d. All work shall be done in accordance with the City’s noise ordinance. All City Parks close at 10PM.
e. The group shall place filled trash bags at the designated site for pickup and disposal. The designated site shall be chosen by the Service Director.
f. Any other modifications to the park i.e. painting, mulching, landscaping, must be pre-approved by the City Service Director.
g. Unused materials and supplies furnished by the City shall be returned to the City Service Department following clean up.
h. Any materials provided and used in any park by your group will become property of the City of Portsmouth.
