    • Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West and Congress of Rough Riders came into town Small pox, typhoid fever, and diphtheria ran rampant in the early 1900s
  • 1901
    • First medical patient in Scioto County is accepted
  • 1902
    • Mitchellace opens as world's largest shoestring plant
    • Millbrook Park opens in New Boston Park
    • Hospital opened by S.S. Halderman and J.J. Rardin on Ninth Street near Tracy Park
    • Portsmouth Library was built with funding from Andrew Carnegie
    • Ordinance was adopted to establish salaries for City officials
  • 1904
    • Toy Pistol Factory exploded killing one person
  • 1905
    • Carlyle Paving Brick Company was built in Sciotoville
  • 1906
    • Selby Shoe Co. created
  • 1907
    • Highland School bids accepted by the City Board of Education
    • Portsmouth streetcar workers strike
    • Captain T.A. McMahon of the Salvation Army raided saloons spreading the word of the evils of liquor (he was later dismissed from the Salvation Army)
  • 1909
    • Levy passed to purchase and construct Portsmouth High School Portsmouth
    • Shoemakers played New York Giants
